Hi, I’m Delicacy Zhao. A regular food lover who has paid for and eaten a lot of meals.

This site has no team, no editorial board. Just me, a laptop, and a stomach that’s always planning the next trip.

My reason for starting this site is simple: I love to eat. Every time I travel, food is the most important part. Over time, I’ve realized that the meals I remember most aren’t from fancy restaurants. They’re from random street stalls I stumbled upon. A bowl of ramen eaten standing up. A messy Mexican hot dog wrapped in bacon. Or a bite of Hakka stuffed tofu that seemed plain at first, but I couldn’t stop eating after the second piece.

What this site is

It’s not a food encyclopedia. You probably won’t find detailed histories of every dish or gram-accurate recipes here.

This is where I share my “first time trying” experiences. I’ll tell you what it actually tastes like, about how much it costs, whether it’s worth seeking out, and the mistakes I made along the way.

What I’ve written about (and still adding more)

  • Japan: Tonkotsu ramen, konbini snacks, donburi
  • Italy: Pizza, pasta, bistecca
  • Thailand: Tom yum goong, mango sticky rice, durian
  • China: Cantonese tong sui, white cut chicken, red-braised pork, cheung fun
  • Russia: Kotleta with mashed potatoes, shawarma
  • Mexican hot dogs, French steak tartare, Georgian khachapuri…

Why you should trust me

Honestly? You probably shouldn’t. I’m not a chef or a food critic. I’m just an ordinary person willing to spend my own money to try things, and then tell you honestly whether it was worth it.

In my writing, you won’t find things like “According to legend, in 1889…” that I copied and pasted from somewhere. Just things I’ve personally eaten, seen, or found interesting enough to look up.

Alright, enough rambling. Happy eating.
